Our much-loved foodie walk had its last hurrah as more than 300 people rambled through the Suffolk countryside.

Walk With a Fork took place in bright sunshine at the Helmingham Estate on Sunday, September 1, and raised more than £6,500.

It was the final outing of the popular event, which has been running since 2012 and helped support Ormiston Families’ work with children, young people and families.

Walkers – many of whom were joined by their dogs – took on a six-mile route through the estate and were treated to foodie stops on the way with treats such as charcuterie, cake and drinks to fuel their footsteps.

They were rewarded for their efforts with more food, drink and entertainment at the finish line, with acts such as Ella-Rose from Bury St Edmunds and Old Heckled Men from Ipswich creating a party atmosphere.

Refreshments were supplied by the likes of Adnams, Fishers Gin and M&M Sweet Treats.

East Coast Adventures supplied archery and axe throwing while wellbeing and craft stalls rounded out the event arena.

Gavin Lamb, senior events and community fundraising manager for Ormiston Families, said the event was a hit – but bittersweet.

“We’ve loved putting on Walk With a Fork over the years so obviously we are sad to see it go, but all good things must come to an end,” he said.

“We’re just delighted that we were able to go out with a bang and see so many people having a great time and raising money for our work.”
