Our Team of 5 runners raise over £12,000 for Ormiston Families… so far!
With fantastic weather and an electric atmosphere at this year’s TCS London Marathon, our 5 runners (looking very flashy in their bright green vests created by Totally Branded) pulled out all the stops, bagging some great times and raising an amazing amount for us at Ormiston Families.
First up, we have father/daughter duo, Beth and Steve Hayward who have so far raised a combined £3,228. With Steve’s eyesight poorer than it used to be, Beth acted as something of a guide for Steve during a good portion of the run. And they both made it safely through in 5h 23m (Steve) and 5h 33m (Beth). They were both inspired by their wife and mum, Corrine, who works at Ormiston families and makes a huge impact every day. So, something of a superstar family within Ormiston Families circles!
With an amazing time of 3h 35m was Mark Sergeant, one of the governors of HMP Norwich and great friend to our team at the visitor centre there. Seeing the great work we do first-hand, Mark was inspired to run on our behalf and has so far raised £1,951.
Next, we have Mez van der Toorn, a relative of one of our service users and a big advocate of Ormiston Families. Mez managed to secure a ballot place through her work in London, so ran for us and another charity, with the goal of raising £1,000 for each of us. And, so far, she’s sitting on a total of £2,013 including Gift Aid! That’s more than DOUBLE her original target!
Finally, we have our superstar: Donna Grant. Working at the HMP Norwich Visitor Centre, Donna works hard for us day-to-day already to make visitors comfortable and put smiles on faces during difficult times. And now, she’s not only completed the Marathon in an awesome 4h 58m, she’s also raised a stonking £4,637 including Gift Aid so far. That’s MASSIVE.
Thank you to our amazing runners for not only putting in some enviable times, but raising so much for children and parents in need of our support.
