Ormiston Families’ story is all about legacy.
Fiona Ormiston Murray was planning to have children when she died tragically on her honeymoon, leaving her family devastated.
Inspired by her values, they set up a charitable trust in order to help children and families in need.
More than 40 years later, Ormiston Families has helped thousands of parents, children and young people to deal with the biggest challenges in their lives.
You can help continue that work by leaving a gift to us in your Will.
To leave a gift in your Will to Ormiston Families, you need to give whoever is responsible for your Will (e.g. solicitor or Will writing service) the following details to ensure it reaches us:
Charity name: Ormiston Families
Charity address: 333 Felixstowe Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP3 9BU
Charity registration number: 1015716
Your gift will go towards supporting our vital services working in the areas of bereavement, families affected by imprisonment, mental health and wellbeing, and in our communities in the East of England.
Last year we worked with more than 5,000 families, supporting them to find ways to cope with a range of challenges.

What are the different types of legacy gifts I can leave in my Will?
A share of your estate (Residuary):
This is a share (i.e. percentage) of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.
A specific sum (Pecuniary):
This is a gift of a specific amount of money.
A specific item:
This could be a particular item, for example jewellery, property or shares.
Are gifts to charity in my Will Inheritance Tax free?
Yes, your gift will be taken off the value of your estate before Inheritance Tax is calculated.
We can’t offer financial, or tax planning advice and it is always best to discuss your Will and the type of gift you might like to include with your solicitor.
How is Ormiston Families funded?
We rely on several income sources to deliver our vital support services to families across the East of England. This includes the generous support of individual donors, corporate supporters, fundraisers and legacy gifts. We also rely on government funding and donations from trusts and other grants to fund our services, sometimes as part of multi-year contracts.

Your gift will go towards supporting our vital services working in the areas of bereavement, families affected by imprisonment, mental health and well-being, and in our communities in the East of England.
Can I choose how my gift to Ormiston Families will be spent?
We would be very happy to speak to you about your wishes, but most people chose to leave an “unrestricted” gift. This means that we can spend your gift wherever it is most needed and will make the biggest difference to children and families we support across the East of England.
Do I need to inform Ormiston Families if I leave you a gift in my Will?
Whilst it can be really helpful to let us know (and we would love to say thank you) there is no obligation to tell us if you have left or are planning to leave Ormiston Families a gift in your Will.
How do I get in touch with another question?
