#WeWill…Deliver an outstanding summer wellbeing experience, pledged Ormiston Families

For three consecutive Saturdays throughout the summer holidays, the Ormiston Families’ #WeWill team took over school fields across Great Yarmouth to deliver its Summer Fun Days, for families and youngsters in the region. Holly Dowsing, Ormiston Families’ #WeWill Programme Coordinator, outlines the huge success of these events below!

Wellbeing Ambassadors felt strongly that such events would be vital to supporting and boosting wellbeing, particularly at a time when the routines of school and other activities are temporarily removed from the weekly schedule.

Ormiston Families teamed up with many local organisations, all of which share an ethos of being dedicated to providing help to children, young people and their families.

Kooth came along to each event to talk about mental health support; the Bread Kitchen visited each event (along with many adorable animals) to discuss employability skills; local graffiti artist Stane delivered three amazing graffiti workshops, and children were able to make puppets for the upcoming Out There Arts Festival, which takes place in September.

Feedback from these events has been superb.

A huge 96% of attendees reported that they would come back to another one of our events.

Most importantly, 62% of attendees reported that their wellbeing was a 5 out of 5 after attending the fair (with only 35% of people rating their wellbeing a 5 before the event)!

One guest said “Great event! Cannot fault anything. The volunteers were friendly & helpful. Thank you!”

This success simply wouldn’t have been possible without the support of family, friends and colleagues who volunteered their time each weekend to deliver stalls.

A sincere thank you goes out to all those who took the time to attend and to support our events.

In particular, we shout out to Naomi, Abby, Alex and John, for the many months of planning which went into these fairs.

We look forward to doing it all over again next year!
