Endings and Beginnings… Gardens and Houses

An inspirational talk on the combined power of determination and talent is set to raise funds for Ormiston Families.

Lady Xa Tollemache, Ormiston Families President, will be joined by writer and performer, Hopwood DePree, on the evening of October 7th at Bergh Apton Church from 7pm to talk about achieving their dreams.

Lady Xa set out to design her garden at Helmingham Hall in Suffolk, leading to her winning a Gold Medal and two Silver-gilts at RHS Chelsea Flower Shows and a successful career all over the British Isles and abroad in designing town and country gardens, both large and small.

Hopwood DePree (Author, ‘Downton Shabby’) is an award-winning and critically acclaimed writer, performer and film-maker from California. He has appeared at many notable stand-up comedy venues , touring the UK with his stand-up show culminating in the Edinburgh Fringe. Hopwood discovered his ancestral home (since 1400s) near Manchester, empty for many years, was in near terminal decline. His dream is to restore it to its former glory.

Both have moved in new directions to achieve their dreams: both have excelled in their new callings. Xa and Hopwood have written their lively and amusing stories in books that they recently presented at the Chatsworth Literary Fest.

The evening will also raise funds for Bergh Apton Church.
