Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner – YOUnited

The salary for this post is £25,251.33 per annum, based on 35 hours per week.
The office is in Queens Street Office, March but the successful candidate will be home based. Travel across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will be required throughout the working week.
We want a Child Wellbeing Practitioner who is dedicated to improving services and who wants to make a positive difference for children and young people.
You will have the opportunity to part of YOUnited, an innovative partnership involving Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust, Centre 33 and Ormiston Families. The partnership offers emotional wellbeing and mental health support to children and young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, with Ormiston Families leading on interventions for children and young people aged 5-13 with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
You will be a qualified CWP, EMHP or PWP with experience of delivering low intensity CBT-informed interventions, preferably to children and young people aged 5-13 and their families. You will therefore have a good understanding of the mental health presentations in children and young people in the age group and a sound knowledge of guided self-help interventions.
You will join a supportive team and will work alongside our team of counsellors; and emotional wellbeing practitioners who are currently developing ‘Video Interactive Guidance’ and ‘Parent and Child Attachment Play’ interventions. We are also a team committed to offering trainee CWP placements.
This is a fulltime position for 35 hours per week and will require travel across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, so you will need access to a car.

The role of CWP Team Manager is to manage and support a team of Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners in their delivery of high quality, low intensity psychological interventions. The CWP Team Managers will support the CWP Service Lead in developing the pathway across Norfolk & Waveney which will include partnership working and a passion for innovation and the pursuit of excellent therapeutic support as standard.
Your clinical and management skills will support the development of the CWP pathway and provide excellent leadership and clinical supervision to our CWP teams which will include trainees, early career professionals, developing practitioners and experienced clinicians. These skills will ensure we can provide a responsive, high-quality service. You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues as well as external stakeholders. As a valued member of our management team, you will help us to ensure the service runs smoothly and provide effective leadership, support, and management of clinical staff and resources. We’re looking for someone who is organised, forward-thinking, has enthusiasm and motivation, and works well in a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to this role.

The post-holder will work within a CYP mental health service delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions Improving your CBT skills will position you to offer evidence-based therapy within our service. In providing this more effectively, cases may be discharged with more positive outcomes sooner.

The Referral Hub practitioner will work within the new YOUnited referral hub providing a single point of access for any professional across the county to refer a young person to get support with their mental health.
This role will work as part of the YOUnited multidisciplinary team reviewing referrals into the hub, screening for risk and focusing on providing a meaningful first contact with children, young people or parents/carers prior to accessing further intervention support.

Our mental health service offers 1:1 therapy and programmes supporting children and young people with therapeutic interventions for social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (group work, workshops, parent-led/family support) to children and young people aged between 5 & 13.
We are listening to children, young people and families and as a result are looking to grow and diversify our service. As a result, we are looking to recruit a wide range of specialist therapeutic practitioners to provide the range of support these children and young people need.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assess each referred child and young person as appropriate and liaise with the wider service regarding their needs.
- Carry out SDQ / CORE testing or other outcome and feedback measures at the appropriate points of the intervention as advised by the service.
- Provide the appropriate number of therapeutic sessions based on the service provision and young person’s needs.
- Appropriately identify and transition referrals between relevant programmes/other services as necessary.
- Pro-actively encourage service user involvement and feedback to monitor the quality and impact of our interventions and inform ongoing service improvements.
- Complete paperwork as required to show progress made and impact of provision.
- Promote other Ormiston Families services where appropriate.
- Maintain levels of confidentiality within the limitations of the Safeguarding Policy.
- Report safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead in line with Ormiston Families’ safeguarding policies.
About you:
In summary, the successful applicant will have the following qualities:
- Previous experience of working therapeutically with children.
- Hold a therapeutic/practitioner in mental health qualification and registration/accreditation from a professional and accrediting body.
- Have a minimum of one of/combination of the following: Play therapist – Diploma in Therapeutic Play, Systemic Family practitioner – MA/Postgraduate degree in Drama Therapy DTUK) , TF-CBT qualification, Post-graduate diploma in CBT therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapist (ACT).
- Be registered with BPS, PTUK, BAPT, BACP, BABCP, BADth, or equivalent having obtained a minimum of 120 hours of clinical experience, and with a clinical supervisor.
- Be able to travel as required for the role (driving license and own car preferred).
- Demonstrate a commitment to continued CPD

CYP-MH
The Children and Young People’s Mental Health programme (CYP-MH) is a service transformation programme delivered by NHS England that aims to improve existing children and young people’s mental health Services (CYP-MHs) working in the community.
This is a training position post holder will undertake training at University College London alongside working in service for Supporting Smiles. They will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. They will also be taught how to deliver interventions in the community, for example, participation activities, training and group delivery. The post holder will use their newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred into the service and trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development, as well as be expected to actively engage local communities.
Applicants will need to be ready to start work in early/mid-January 2024 and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date. Shortlisted candidates will also need to submit an application form to UCL for a place on the Diploma in Child Wellbeing Practice. We are seeking to recruit trainee graduate-level practitioners to provide guided self-help therapy and parenting interventions. We are passionate about delivering high quality and person focused support to young people and families. Therefore, we are seeking candidates who are motivated and adopt a positive approach to working within a team, undergoing intensive training, and supporting young people and families.
These posts are aligned with the NHS Agenda for Change band 4 and are fully funded for a one-year post graduate diploma in Child Wellbeing Practice through the University College London. In addition, supportive supervision and on-the-job training will be provided by an experienced supervisor within the team.
During training, the post-holders will work under close supervision to gain experience across healthcare and community settings to enable them to gain the level of competence required to deliver high-quality, evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems.

Ormiston Families has been delivering evidence-based interventions to support to children and young people with their mental health for several years in Norfolk and Waveney. We are excited to be able to expand on our current provision to deliver similar services as part of a partnership in Cambridge and Peterborough.
Clinical Supervisor Framework
We want to develop a framework of trusted clinical supervisors across the East of England to support the workforce and service users through high quality supervision. We have a range of staff delivering with a variety of experience across modalities including Play Therapy, Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. We also have a range of services who from time to time would benefit from the reflective practice that clinical supervision brings to enhancing practice. All external supervisors will have a contract with six monthly reviews. This will support learning and development across Ormiston Families.
We are looking for clinical supervisors who are passionate about developing evidence-based practice through supervision, to be part of a framework where staff can choose their supervisor most suited to their modality and requirements.
