I have made more than fifty films on criminal justice, and a number more on social issues like KIDS IN CARE, and THE TRUTH ABOUT ADOPTION. I was on the Mental Health Foundation commission for children and adolescents.
I am the only documentary maker to be given the bafta fellowship for lifetime achievement. And my work in architecture and planning led to a place on the RIBA Commission on the Future of Housing and am now an Honorary Fellow of the RIBA.
Ormiston Families is making a really positive difference to the life chances of the children and young people through its four areas of engagement. Being brave, caring and effective supporting children and young people in the challenges they face bears fruit in flourishing lives. I warmly support Ormiston Families making a difference in east Anglia.
A visit to HMP Norwich convinced me of the value of the work of Ormiston Families. To see the way their staff enabled good relationships between prisoners and their wives, partners and children was an inspiration in itself. The wider work of Ormiston Families provides some of the social glue our society badly needs. I consider it a privilege to be a Patron.
