#TeamOrmistonFamilies completes the 2021 London Marathon!

A huge congratulations to our 8 amazing runners who completed the London Marathon in aid of Ormiston Families on 3rd October!

Jo, Naomi, Michelle, Holly, Liam, Donna, Tim and Vicky all completed the 26.2 mile run on a relatively bright and dry day in London last Sunday, raising over £7,600 (as of 7th October, excluding Gift Aid) for our work in the process!

This huge achievement would not have been possible without your months of dedication and training building up to the big day, and everyone at Ormiston Families is not only thrilled that you were able to have such a fantastic experience, but so grateful that you were able to do so for #TeamOrmistonFamilies.

Naomi, a Practitioner for our YouCanBe service in Norfolk, told us about how she found the mammoth challenge:

“It was a privilege to run for Ormiston Families – working for them, I know funds raised go to supporting local people. My race was probably a reflection of some of our service users lives; I hit an unexpected blip halfway which threw my race on a different path, yet the support of those who had come to support me along with the knowledge of why I was doing it kept me going and got me over the finish line.”

Michelle, Senior Practitioner at our Mpower service, told us what it meant to be taking part in aid of our work:

“It was an absolute honour to run the London Marathon for Ormiston Families. Having worked for this fantastic charity for over 10 years, I have seen time and time again how lives are truly changed by our work.”

“I was overwhelmed by the whole experience – I laughed, danced to some of the great entertainment, shuffled along and cried (like a baby) when the enormity of what I was doing, and why, hit me. I have gained so much from this amazing experience.”

Holly, one of our Senior Link Workers, ran the marathon alongside her mum, Donna, her partner, Liam, and Liam’s dad, Tim! She told us how she found the experience:

“I was so excited that my first marathon was going to be the London Marathon, and it lived up to all of those expectations! The support of the crowd was amazing, the weather held up (mostly!) and it was incredible to be able to share the experience with my nearest and dearest.”

“Everyone has been so generous when it came to fundraising, so we were especially proud of the achievement knowing that the money was going to such a wonderful cause.”

Thank you to each of you for your incredible effort!
