Ormiston Families’ Annual Lecture – An Evening with Charlie Taylor, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons

21 November 2022
Murray Edwards College, Cambridge

This November, Ormiston Families is delighted to announce that our annual lecture will be led by Charlie Taylor, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons, who is transforming Britain’s prisons.

Charlie Taylor had a transformative impact on the lives of excluded students and disadvantaged boys, and since being appointed as HM Chief Inspector of Prisons in 2020, he has been working to have the same impact on the treatment of prisoners in the UK.

He led the 2015 review into the youth justice system and also worked with the Department of Education to improve schools’ abilities to support and develop their most challenging pupils.

In his current role, Mr Taylor reports directly to the Secretary of State and relevant ministers on the treatment of UK prisoners and the conditions they live in.

Held at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge, this event is a fascinating opportunity to hear from one of our nation’s true pioneers in the field of prison welfare and improvement.

Doors will open at 6pm for a prompt 6:30 start. Guests will be greeted with teas and coffees on arrival, and light refreshments will be served after the event.
