We’ve got five inspiring runners taking on the Virgin Money London Marathon this year to raise funds for our programmes and services. As marathon day creeps ever nearer, they’re in a frenzy of training and fundraising.

Dean Johnson, Dan Swann, Huw Breese, Jackie Spink and Sam Chater will all be donning their running shoes for 26.2 miles on the 23rd April.

Jackie, a teacher from Felixstowe, has previously run the marathon but still considers herself a beginner. She has been busy raising funds with a quiz night, bake sales and is planning a raffle and a Silent Reading Party.

Jackie said: “I chose to run for Ormiston Families after chatting to someone at ‘Walk with a Fork’ who works with families with fathers in prison. Someone close to me has a father in prison and struggles with the stigma and maintaining their relationship. I told her about the service that Ormiston Families offers which gave her the confidence to visit, and it was a really positive experience."

Huw, head of humanities at The Gateway Academy, Essex, has already received exceptional support from his students, who have taken part in football matches and cultural cuisine days to raise money. He aims to inspire his son and students to keep fit and healthy.

Join us by wishing Jackie, Huw, Dan, Sam and Dean the best of the luck on the day and in their amazing fundraising efforts.
