Sharon's Story

I started volunteering at the Chatteris Children's Centre in 2012. I saw an advert at the library for Bubbly Bugs, at the time I was volunteering for another organisation and I was looking for a local charity to raise money for. I met the team and started to play with the children and felt that I could help using the nursery nursing skills that I have acquired over the years and I haven't looked back since. I initially volunteered for the Bubbly Bugs additional needs support group, but I have also gone on to act as a Parent Representative, as well as recently running the Toy Library and Sensory Fun.

It is a lot of fun volunteering, I enjoy interacting with all the different parents and supporting these parents has greatly improved my social skills. Through the variety of volunteering roles I have undertaken, I have learnt a lot about different aspects of children's needs and I have been able to utilise these experiences in other settings. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering and have made plenty of good friends.
