Walk with a Fork reaches £50,000 milestone for local children and young people

East of England’s leading family charity, Ormiston Families, held their sixth annual Walk with a Fork event over the weekend, raising more than £6,000 to support local children and young people facing complex life challenges.

The eight-mile walk saw nearly 250 people explore the splendid location of Helmingham Hall, hosted by Ormiston Families’ president, Lady Tollemache.

Lady Tollemache, says: “Walk with a Fork was a fantastic day out with a great turnout of people of all ages and abilities, even dogs. Walkers got to experience the beautiful views, architecture and hidden valleys not usually seen by the public whilst enjoying a delicious selection of local food en route.” 

This year’s food producers included The Tea Rooms at Helmingham, Musk’s Sausages, Stokes Sauces, Suffolk Salami, Suffolk Fresh, Melons Greengrocers, The Greek Olive company, Penny Bun Bakehouse, Stour Valley Apiaries, The Bakehouse, The Otley White Hart, James White Drinks, Hill Farm Oils, Fairfields Farm Crisps, The Cheese and Pie Man, Alder Carr Farm, Betty & Miller Ltd, MorBeans, even our four legged friends were treated to delights from Fisherman and Friends. The event was supported by Travis Perkins and Sackers Recycling. The event was sponsored by Aspall Cyder.

Gavin Lamb, Fundraising Manager for Ormiston families, adds: “This was a hugely successful event that brought the local community together to raise over £6,000 for an important cause. I want to thank everybody who took part on the day, from our suppliers and sponsors, to volunteers and walkers. The event has been running for six years, and has now reached its £50,000 milestone, with even more tickets bought this year.”
