A History of the Royal Collection Paintings Politics & Connoisseurs – an illustrated lecture by Christopher Lloyd

27 October 2019
Abbey Hall, Hoxne Road, Eye, Suffolk, IP23 7NJ

Christopher Lloyd held the post of Surveyor of The Queen’s Pictures from 1988 until 2005 with responsibility for some 7000 paintings and 3000 miniatures distributed throughout the royal palaces.

Quite apart from the quality of the works, the origins and development of the collection through the centuries, is a fascinating story providing valuable insights into the relationship between art and monarchy.
