Volunteering for Ormiston
Over 100 people regularly volunteer at Ormiston’s services. Volunteers are really important to all our teams and we value the enthusiasm, experience and dedication they bring.
People volunteer for lots of reasons – to gain work experience, to find something rewarding to do after retirement or while out of work, to get back into the work place after time off for raising their own families, or simply to ‘give something back’.
Here’s what some of our volunteers have said recently
“Volunteering with Ormiston Travellers’ Initiative has changed my life over this past year – I’ve gained qualifications, met new people, made friends and I feel valued by the team and the service users.”
“A big thank you for giving me the opportunity to work in the crèche at the prison. I have really enjoyed it and will miss every one of you. I have had a great 18 months with Ormiston, initially volunteering to gain experience before starting a PGCE. I’ve enjoyed it so much working in a prison setting that I’ve decided to specialise in prison education once I qualify.”
“Thank you for all the support you have given me. Working in the children’s centre these last ten months has not only increased by knowledge but it’s also been really great fun. I have made many friends during this period of time, who I will truly miss.”
