FACT: 1 child in 10 children is experiencing mental health problems right now.
(Mental Health Foundation, 2005)

Point-1 is a new service that will be delivered by Ormiston Children & Families Trust, in partnership with the youth charity MAP and the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT).

The service will provide assessment and support by skilled professionals for children and young people who are experiencing emerging mental health and emotional problems.

Point-1 is a Tier 2 CAMHS (Children & Adolescent Mental Health Service), and is different from Tier 3 services due to providing early intervention support for the onset of specific problems. It is not an emergency service.

Getting in contact

The team at Point-1 suggest that in order to best understand how their child could benefit from the service, parents/carers should talk over the issues their child is facing with a GP or other trusted professional who has met and worked with that child.

It might be that a referral to the service is then considered to be the best option for that child. Point 1 recommends that referrals come from professionals who know the child and family well.

Referrals can be made over the telephone on 0800 977 4077 or by completing a Point 1 referral form.
