Visiting HMP/YOI Littlehey

Ormiston’s visitors’ centre at HMP/YOI Littlehey is a bright family-friendly space to wait before visiting time. We provide lockers and a snack bar serving coffee and tea, soft drinks, sandwiches and snacks.

We have toys, games and books and an inside and outdoor area for children to play while they wait.

Our staff are on hand to answer any questions or talk over worries you may have about your children or your relative in prison or you can contact us before your visit for more information.

How to get here

Car: The prison is approximately 3 miles from the A1 and 5 miles from the A14 / A1 junction at Brampton Hut.  Whether approaching from the North or the South on the A1, the turn off is at the roundabout at Buckden on the A1.  Turn off at the Buckden roundabout along the B661 (signposted Kimbolton and Perry).  Stay on this road for 3 miles until you reach the village of Perry.  Take the first left at Crow Spinney Lane, just before the Wheatsheaf public house.  Follow the road round until you see the sign-posts for the visitors’ car park.

Alternatively: From the B645, turn off in Great Staughton along the B661, signposted Perry and Buckden.  In the village of Perry, take the first right after the Wheatsheaf public house into Crow Spinney Lane.  Follow the road round until you see the sign-posts for the visitors’ car park.

Parking is available at the prison and there is wheelchair access to the centre and the prison.

Train: The nearest mainline station to the prison is Huntingdon.  If travelling from the North, West or East, then change trains at Peterborough and use the First Capital Connect service to London Kings Cross.  Huntingdon is the first stop on the service.

If travelling from the South, use the First Capital Connect service from Kings Cross to Huntingdon.

A community bus service runs from Huntingdon bus and train stations to the prison.  This service must be booked in advance which you can do through the visitors’ centre when booking your visit.

Parking is available at the prison and there’s wheelchair access to the centre and the prison.
