Visiting HMP Bure
Ormiston’s visitors centre at HMP Bure is a bright family-friendly space to wait before visiting time. We provide lockers, and there are vending machines serving coffee and tea, soft drinks and snacks.
We have toys, games and books and an area for children to play while they wait.
Our staff are on hand to answer any questions or talk over worries you may have about your children or your relative in prison or you can contact us before your visit for more information.

- Sunday 8.30am – 4.30pm

(Please note: visiting sessions run 9.30am-11.30am, and 2pm-4pm) Children’s Visits are held on the last Friday of every month so no domestic visits on the last Friday of the month.
How to get here
- Train: Train to Norwich, a Smiths coach from Norwich Train station and Norwich Bus Station, is provided by the prison or taxis are available.
- Car: Take B1150 out of Norwich, stay on this road, when you reach a small roundabout outside a restaurant called the Recruiting Sergeant go straight over (second exit). Follow the road over the bridge and round to the left. Take the first left on to Great Hautbois Road continue on this road to a T junction, take the right turn which is also over a small bridge. Continue on this road and HMP Bure will be signposted from there.
Parking is available at the prison and there’s wheelchair access to the centre and the prison.
