Our work with children affected by imprisonment has a dedicated education lead, working with education services across the Eastern Region providing information and training for teachers, governors and early years providers, support materials for children and young people, resources for the school curriculum and information for parents and carers.
This support includes:
- the Ormiston publication Working with Children & Families of Prisoners available to all schools and professionals working with children
- training and awareness-raising sessions fitted within training-day programmes
- after-school sessions tailored to a specific group of school staff
- one-to-one meetings with heads, teachers and support staff
- training for teachers and specialist support staff within their professional development
- information about local support available to families, especially around prison visiting
- curriculum materials for KS 2 and KS3 to fit within History, Citizenship and PSHE
- non-school based training for foster-carers, voluntary organisations, social workers etc
- delivery of sessions tailored to fit within NVQ childcare and Teaching Assistant courses
