HMP Norwich is a male prison situated on the outskirts of the city. Ormiston manages the visitors centre (see below) and provides the following support and services within the prison:
- Children's Visits
- an accredited parenting course for fathers within the prison
- family liaison
We have a video you can watch which will tell you more about visiting the prison.
Ormiston Visitors Centre provides:
- a friendly welcome and information about the prison
- an OFSTED registered creche
- snacks and drinks - there are also tea bars in the prison visits halls.
- lockers for visitors - these need a £1 coin deposit.
- toilet facilities - including facilities for the disabled and baby changing.
- information on travel, benefits and support services.
There is wheelchair access to the centre and the prison.

All domestic visits need to be booked by telephone on 01603 708795.
Please note: there are no visits on Monday and Friday; the Visitors Centre is closed on these days and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Visits by previously serving prisoners
Visitors who have served a term of imprisonment at any of Her Majesty’s prisons will not be allowed to visit a serving prisoner at HMP Norwich without permission from the Governor. They will have had to have been out of prison for a minimum of three months.
